AN EXTENSION OF POWER DISTRIBUTION
Resumen
This article discusses the derivation of different statistical measures associated to four parameter extension of Power distribution.
The extension of Power distribution has been introduced by using the concept of transmutation and weighted distribution. This
extension is named as weighted transmuted Power distribution and abbreviated as WTPD. Various properties of the WTPD have
been studied in detail. Random numbers from the introduced extension are generated by using the Inverse sampling method.
Parameters are estimated by using the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) method. Comparison is made between special
cases of WTPD in terms of fitting to different types of data sets. AIC (Akaike Information Criterion) and Kolmogorov-Smirnov
test (one sample, two sided) is used as a tool for making the comparison. The motive behind the construction of WTPD and its
fitting to some considered data sets, is to show its importance and support its validity in describing a random phenomena.
